Each member of Sheldon’s Wine Cellars’ team has been hand-packed for their passion and expertise in wine. All have either WSET education to Level 2 or above, or significant experience in the drinks/hospitality trade. We stand ready to help you with all of your wine, spirits, and craft drinks needs.
Director and Co-Owner
Shane has been buying wine for investment and pleasure for more than 20 years. He invested in Sheldon’s in 2018 because he saw the future potential in the business and the opportunity to indulge his passion for wine and share his enthusiasm with others. Shane passed his WSET Level 3 with Distinction in 2018.
WSET DIP, Shop Manager and Educator
Amanda’s passion for wine was sparked when she worked alongside the Waitrose buyers in the 1990s. After a career in management training, she specialised in wine, completed the WSET Diploma, and established a wine education company – Defining Wine Ltd. Amanda runs all of our WSET wines and spirits courses and loves sharing her knowledge with anyone who will listen!
Finance Manager and Premises Manager
Esther has been part of the Sheldon’s team since late 2017; she’s our Finance Manager and is qualified to WSET Level 2, having achieved a Distinction. Originally from Norfolk, Esther moved into the area in 2015 with her family. Having been a keen wine lover for over 20 years, Sheldon’s seems to be the perfect place to work.
Shop Manager
Trish worked her way through the WSET Levels scoring perfectly on Level 1 & 2 before achieving a Distinction at Level 3 and being awarded the CIVB Prize. Trish loves all of the aspects that surround a bottle of wine, from geology and geography, to history and family, agriculture and viticulture, and the techniques associated with wine making. It’s these aspects that bring the topic to life for Trish and she loves to share some of the stories that sit behind the bottle.
Cellar Tours and Private Events Manager
Nigel has been in the wine and spirits business for nearly 60 years, having started with the family business of A C Strofton Ltd in 1960. In his time in the trade he has occupied more ‘significant positions’ than the rest of us put together. Nigel conducts Cellar Tours for large groups, which include a sit-down tutored tasting of four wines. He also organises customer tutored tastings outside of the office and cellars. At these events, one might occasionally get a glimpse into Nigel’s fascinating time in the industry.
Premises Support
Carol has been with the business since before the rest of us were born, knows where everything is and how everything works. Without her we would simply be lost. She keeps us all in check and is the ‘real’ boss!
