wine we offer

In the late 20th century, Sheldon’s was renowned for its focus on Claret, the generic name for wines from Bordeaux, as well as white Burgundy. Recognising this historic strength, we’ve invested in building stocks of both of these wine types, at all levels, with as many different vintages as we can sensibly manage.

We’ve also developed our range of red Burgundy, focusing on producers who make excellent wine but are perhaps currently less well known than the big names, offering exceptional value for money.

Champagne is a passion at Sheldon’s, and we carry brands and a number of grower Champagnes, recognising that these are always in high demand and limited supply. Our house Champagne is our biggest seller and is the perfect aperitif for most occasions. We also hold great wines from Alsace, Beaujolais and Regional France.

We also stock many wines from around the globe, both from the Old and New World. Constantly looking for the best examples of high-quality wines from each region, we particularly focus on Spain, Italy and New Zealand. However, we also have some wonderful wines from Australia, and are currently developing Germany, Portugal and South Africa. Not forgetting the fabulous wines of South America, we have some great Argentinian and Chilean stock, and a small selection from other South American countries.

Recognising the recent investments and improvements in English wine production, Sheldon’s stocks both still and sparkling wine from a number of English producers. The best English sparkling wines now rival some of the finest from France, and we’re delighted to see this area continue to improve.

Alongside our extensive wine portfolio, we also sell a range of spirits, craft beers, and ciders. Our ethos around our non-wine portfolio is to always stay local where we can, showing the most interesting products from our area. Of course, our Port, Sherry, Madeira, Cognac, Whisky, Tequila (and more!), come from their respective places of origin.
